Mark V. Martino: As an accomplished Master Architect, Mark Martino has extensive business experience which he applies to BRAND’s clients, ensuring that all of our programs and services have a strong business focus, the kind that generates meaningful and measurable results.
As co-founder and Chief Executive of The Odyssey Lifestyle, a celebration of the food and wine lifestyle through art, education and inspiration based in Las Vegas. He was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where his parents instilled in him a love of travel, culture and gourmet dining from a very young age
Martino developed an early fascination with design and construction, which led him to a career in architecture. In 1983, he moved to Bozeman to enroll in a five-year architectural program at Montana State University. As part of his undergraduate work, Mark had an opportunity to participate in an internship program that brought him to a Nevada-based architectural firm. Upon receiving his Bachelors Degree in architecture in 1988, Martino joined that firm and took up residence in Las Vegas, “the city of lights,” which was at that time just on the verge of its major growth and architectural explosion.
Now, more than 25 years later, Martino is the project architect of one of Las Vegas’ oldest architectural firms, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
He is proud to be responsible for the ever-changing architectural landscape of Las Vegas, from multi-million dollar commercial projects to local schools, restaurants, condominiums and healthcare facilities. Martino has also been a project manager for a progressive Civil Engineering firm in Las Vegas. Noteworthy projects include the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Agassi College Preparatory Academy, the Mesquite Heritage Museum, Molasky Family Park, Clark County Fire Stations and the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Center at UNLV.
In 1999, Martino’s desire to enhance the culinary and cultural aspects of Las Vegas motivated him to produce The Odyssey Lifestyle with his co-founder and wife, Virginia. Their goal was to bring together the area’s top chefs and artists with a selection of the nation’s foremost vintners for an annual four-day celebration of food, wine and art. Today, this prestigious event draws attention and participants from far beyond the Las Vegas Valley to experience the delights of haute cuisine in a magical setting.
In 2003, Martino initiated a charitable program in conjunction with the newly-established Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Las Vegas. The program creates scholarships that allow deserving students to pursue their dreams of becoming professional chefs. The first recipients were announced in March, 2004, with funds derived the previous autumn’s Odyssey Lifestyle put toward academic tuition. Students from Le Cordon Bleu are also given the opportunity to participate in corporate culinary events throughout the year, such as launch parties and art exhibits arranged by Odyssey’s marketing subsidiary, BRAND.
Martino is a member of NCARB, the California Olive Oil Council, and the American Wine Society. He is involved in, and has contributed to, many other charitable causes, including The Audi Odyssey Masterpiece, benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Society; and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. He has traveled widely and his love of the vine has taken him from Napa Valley and California’s central coast to the vineyards of Italy. His personal motto reflects Martino’s dedication to wine culture: “I can never have enough wine in my cellar!”
